Michael Byrne Vienna State Opera Award (Dramatic Coloratura Soprano)

The Opera Foundation for young Australians announces auditions for the 28th Vienna State Opera Award.

The winner will be an outstanding Dramatic Coloratura Soprano (Australian citizen) who has had some operatic stage experience with an opera company and who would be capable should the opportunity be offered, of undertaking minor understudy roles or performing at the Vienna State Opera, capable of meeting the demands of a major Opera House.

The total value of the Award is approximately $35,000 which includes travel to Vienna, a living allowance, coaching by the music staff at the Vienna State Opera and attendance of rehearsals and performances. Funds will also be made available for Intensive German Language Lessons and repertoire coaching prior to arriving in Milan if appropriate.
